During the delivery of anesthesia, the vaporized drug passes through the machine's internal system, forming water droplets due to the vaporization process. If these water droplets and other impurities are allowed to enter the breathing circuit, they may be inhaled by the patient and may cause harm, including respiratory distress. Therefore, the use of water traps is critical to ensuring patient safety and maintaining the integrity of the anesthesia delivery system.
1. Close the drain valve at the bottom of the evaporator.
2. Remove the water trap from the packaging and inspect for any damage.
3. Screw the water trap onto the bottom of the evaporator to connect it to the evaporator.
4. Open the drain valve at the bottom of the vaporizer to allow excess water to drain into the trap.
5. Observe the water level in the trap and empty it regularly when it is full.
NOTE: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use and maintenance of water traps.
