Ham's F-10 Nutrient Blend (F-10) is designed for the serum-free growth of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. Since then, F-10 has been used for serum-free growth of CHO cultures as well as serum-supplemented growth of other mammalian cells, including COS-7, primary rat astrocytes, and rat prostate epithelial cells.

Compared to other basal media, F-10 contains multiple components, including zinc, hypoxanthine and thymidine. Serum-free growth of CHO cells in F-10 has resulted in various modified formulations, such as Ham's F-12 Nutrient Mixture (F-12).

Use Ham's F-10 Nutrient Blend
Gibco™ F-10 does not contain protein or growth factors. Therefore, F-10 requires additives, usually 10% -Culture/fbs.html">Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). F-10 uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (1.2 g/L) and therefore requires a 5-10% CO₂ environment to maintain physiological pH.

Gibco™ F-10 is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard. To ensure supply chain stability, we also offer the same Gibco™ F-10 product (22390-017) manufactured in our Scottish factory. The latter is also a medical device manufacturer registered with the FDA and complies with the ISO 13485 standard.
