Hanks' Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) is suitable for a variety of cell culture applications such as washing cells prior to dissociation, transporting cells, or Tissue samples, dilute cells for counting and prepare reagents. Before cell dissociation, the chelating agent needs to be rinsed out of the culture using a calcium- and magnesium-free preparation.

Gibco™ HBSS is manufactured in a cGMP quality management facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard. To ensure a stable supply chain, we also offer the same Gibco™ HBSS product (14170-138) manufactured in our Scottish factory. The latter is also a medical device manufacturer registered with the FDA and complies with the ISO 13485 standard.
