IMDM is a modified version of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium, containing selenium and other amino acids and vitamins. Additionally, this unique medium is iron-free and contains potassium nitrate instead of ferric nitrate.

Gibco™ IMDM is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The facility is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard.
IMDM medium does not contain proteins, lipids or growth factors. Therefore, IMDM requires supplements, usually 10% Fetal bovine serum (FBS). IMDM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (3.024 g/L) and therefore requires a 5-10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH.
