Thermo Scientific™ Streptavidin-Alkaline Phosphatase Conjugates include purified forms of Streptavidin peptide, conjugated to alkaline phosphatase for substrate-based detection.
Strepavidin is a biotin-binding protein originally isolated from Streptomyces avidinus. Compared to avidin, strepavidin has no carbohydrates and has a slightly acidic pI of 5. Thermo Scientific strepavidin products use a recombinant form of streptavidin with a mass of 53,000 daltons and a pI close to neutral. Streptoavidin is a tetrameric protein, each subunit binds a molecule of biotin, and its affinity is similar to that of avidin. Guanidine hydrochloride can dissociate avidin and strepavidin into subunits, but streptoavidin is more resistant to dissociation.
Streptavidin, alkaline phosphatase conjugate detects biotinylated antibodies and Other probes.
Recommended concentrations: ELISA (0.1 µg/mL), immunofluorescence (depending on assay), Western blot (2 µg/mL)
