The term "leak-proof" applies to Thermo Scientific Nalgene products that meet the following conditions: a) Bottle/beaker/funnel lid systems with lid sizes less than 100 mm, when filled with water, at 2 psig atmosphere Under pressure, if it is inverted for 2 minutes, the water inside will not overflow; b) For a bottle/funnel/beaker lid system with a cover size greater than 100 mm, after it is filled with water, the water inside will not overflow when it is inverted for 15 minutes. Note: If other liquids are used for the above test, different results may be obtained. To ensure safe use, customers are advised to test Thermo Scientific Nalgene bottles and closures under planned application conditions. When used together with Nalgene bottle caps, Thermo Scientific Nalgene products are leak-proof under normal temperatures and pressures.

Durable Nalgene polypropylene (PP) and polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) magnums are built to last under normal laboratory conditions. However, like all durable products, they are eventually discontinued and replaced. These large bottles and their packaging are recyclable in many communities. Please recycle the corrugated cartons and LDPE bags in which Nalgene large bottles are packaged. At the end of the product's life, if provided by your community, wash and recycle your Nalgene PP and PPCO bottles.
