Polygonal shape with design features for easy separation of lid from tube, microplate from thermal cycler, tube from thermal cycler detach, and separate the tubes from the microplate. One edge contains a U-shaped cutout for opening the tube lid. One edge has a ridge to remove capped strip tubes from the microplate. Both edges are pointed to remove the microplate from the thermal cycler. Finally, two hook-like protrusions can be inserted into the short sides of the microplate and lift it away from the sample stage.
