When autoclaving liquids in Nalgene carboys, use Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ Faucet Caps with polypropylene locking nuts and TPE plugs in place of the faucet to provide a leak-proof† seal. The cap is also useful when handling items that may damage the spigot or result in accidental opening of the spigot, or when larger bottles without a spigot are required. Fits all Nalgene carboys with taps and selected Nalgene cans with taps.

For Thermo Scientific Nalgene products that meet the following standards: a) For bottle/flask/funnel sealing systems with cap sizes less than 100 mm, when filled with water and inverted for 2 minutes at 2 psig gas pressure, the water inside will not Overflow; b) For bottle/funnel/flask sealing systems with cap sizes greater than 100 mm, when filled with water and inverted for 15 minutes, the water inside will not overflow. Note: If other liquids are used for the above test, it may occur. Different results were obtained. To ensure safe use, customers are advised to test Thermo Scientific Nalgene bottles and closures under intended application conditions. Thermo Scientific Nalgene products are leak-proof when used with Nalgene closures.
