Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ Glutathione Sepharose Magnetic Beads provide a fast, convenient method for isolation from bacteria, yeast Glutathione-S-transferase (GST) is purified from native bacterial or mammalian cell lysates. Pierce™ Glutathione Magnetic Sepharose Beads are well suited for the purification of GST fusion proteins from soluble protein extracts and for purification of proteins expressed at low levels from dilute supernatants. Magnetic beads can be used with magnetic stands in manual applications or with instruments such as the Thermo Scientific™ KingFisher™ Flex Magnetic Bead Purifier in automated applications. Automated instruments are particularly useful for higher throughput purification and screening purification conditions.

• Stable affinity ligand—glutathione is covalently immobilized to the microparticles, resulting in a leach-resistant and clean purified product
• High capacity—binding capacity sufficient for routine and demanding purification procedures Requirements
High performance, magnetic, superparamagnetic beads are validated and optimized for use on high-throughput magnetic platforms such as the KingFisher™ 96 and KingFisher™ Flex Magnetic Bead Purifiers, however, magnetic beads can also be utilized with appropriate The magnetic stand delivers excellent performance for simple benchtop purification applications.
Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a protein that is often added to the termini of recombinant proteins to aid purification or detection. To prepare the affinity carrier, glutathione is immobilized through its central carbon, retaining the basic structure required for efficient GST binding. The addition of reduced glutathione to physiological buffer is sufficient to competitively displace and recover the GST fusion protein from immobilized glutathione.
