Automated desalting and pH reduction in oligosaccharide separations
The Dionex ERD 500 electrolytically regenerated desalter lowers sample pH and removes more than 99% of the salt by replacing sodium ions with hydronium ions. Sodium ions, thereby converting the sodium hydroxide and sodium acetate eluents into water and acetic acid. The volatile acetic acid makes it possible to produce lyophilized fractions without dialysis, making purified sugar samples available for further manipulations.
