Phalloidin is a bicyclic peptide isolated from the lethal Amanita "death cap" mushroom A class of toxins commonly used to selectively label F-actin in imaging applications. The binding properties of fluorescently labeled phalloidin to actin from different species, including plants and animals, are almost identical. Phalloidin binds to F-actin with high selectivity, while Alexa Fluor™ 680 provides near-infrared fluorescence with excellent brightness and photostability. Alexa Fluor™ 680 Phalloidin rarely causes non-specific staining and allows high contrast differentiation of actin staining.

Alexa Fluor™ 680 Phalloidin can be used to target F-actin in tissue sections, cell cultures, or cell-free preparations Perform visualization and quantification. Alexa Fluor™ 680 Phalloidin Stain is fully compatible with other fluorescent stains used in cell analysis procedures, including fluorescent proteins, Qdot™ Nanocrystals, and other Alexa Fluor™ conjugates (including secondary antibodies).
