Dynabeads Intact Virus Enrichment Beads are 1-µm strong anion exchange magnetic beads that bind negatively charged vesicles and molecules beads. Magnetic beads are optimized for enrichment of intact SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in dilute cell culture and viral transport media, but have been demonstrated for enrichment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). and Ebola, Zika, influenza A, norovirus, and novo viruses. Enrichment is gentle and fast, completing in as little as 15 minutes. Viruses can be easily removed from the beads during an additional 10-minute release step.

The enriched intact virus can be used for further virus growth or any downstream functional assays, protein studies (immunoblotting, mass spectrometry), RNA purification for PCR, etc. Additionally, Dynabeads magnetic beads work with any of ourKingFisher instruments are used in combination for high-throughput enrichment, so both manual and automated protocols are available.

How to use Dynabeads Intact Virus Enrichment
The wash step requires a mixer/tumbler and a DynaMag magnetic stand. Mix the beads thoroughly before starting. Use ∼20 µL Dynabeads/mL virus sample.

Manual protocol:
1. Wash the beads twice with a magnetic stand.
2. Add microbeads to the sample for 10 minutes at room temperature.
3. Wash the bead-bound virus twice on the magnetic stand to remove unbound target.
4. Optional: Virus can be released from magnetic beads in ∼10 minutes

Automated protocol:
(requires KingFisher Sample Purification System (Apex, Flex or Duo Prime))
