Formulations containing calcium and magnesium ions are often used as transport media or for reagent preparation.

Gibco™ HBSS is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard. To ensure supply chain stability, we also offer the same Gibco™ HBSS product (14065-049) manufactured in our Scottish factory. The latter is also a medical device manufacturer registered with the FDA and complies with the ISO 13485 standard.
