UltraPure™ formamide is commonly used to denature nucleic acids for sequencing gel electrophoresis, electron microscopy analysis and hybridization. UltraPure™ formamide is liquid at room temperature, vacuum distilled, packaged under dry nitrogen and ready for use in a variety of applications within three months of purchase. Because formamide breakdown products can degrade nucleic acids, for sensitive applications, formamide should be deionized by treatment with a mixed-bed ion exchange resin before use.
