Thermo Scientific Pierce BMPH is a short maleimide and hydrazide cross-linker for sulfhydryl ( Cysteine) is coupled to a carbonyl group (aldehyde or ketone, a substance formed by the oxidation of carbohydrates such as glycoproteins).
Features of BMPH:
•
Reactive groups:Maleimide and
Hydrazide•
Can react with the following groups:Sulfhydryl and carbonyl (aldehyde) groups
•Short (8.1A), a thiol-aldehyde cross-linker with a simple spacer arm (non-cleavable),
•The maleimide group reacts with the thiol group to form a stable thioether bond
•The hydrazide group reacts with Oxidative sugar coupling of glycoproteins and carbohydrates
•Use
sodium metaperiodate to oxidize sugars sylated (such as sialic acid) to a reactive aldehyde group
•Use with
EDC to convert the acyl group Coupling of primary amines of hydrazine groups with carboxyl groups
