The Pierce Luciferase Glow Assay Kit contains reagents for measuring Renilla luciferase activity in cell lysates. Glow reagent provides a stable bioluminescence signal in the presence of luciferase and is ideal for use in photometers without injectors or for batch processing of samples. The light output produced by the luciferase reaction can be related to the amount of luciferase protein produced, which in turn is directly proportional to the activity of the promoter driving luciferase expression. This glow assay reagent has been optimized to provide good results with Thermo Scientific GreenRenilla Luc plasmid; however, this glow kit can be used to detect other compounds that use coelenterazine as a substrate. Green Renillaluciferase is a derivative of the wild-type Renilla luciferase gene from Renilla A 36kDa protein. GreenRenillais more stable in serum than wild-type luciferase and has an emission spectrum shifted toward the green region. The protein provides an extremely bright flash signal that decays rapidly. The Pierce Renilla Glow Assay Kit reagents effectively stabilize this bright bioluminescence, producing a signal half-life of >3 hours, eliminating the need for a photometer with an injector. This kit has been optimized to provide good results with Thermo Scientific GreenRenilla Luc plasmid; however, this glow kit can be used to detect other Renillaluciferase derivatives.
