Thermo Scientific Pierce Fluorinated Aldehyde OPA Reagent is a ready-to-use o-phthalaldehyde solution. Fluorescent derivatization reagent for detection and quantification of peptides or amino acids in HPLC.

Features of fluorinated aldehyde reagent solutions:

•Pre- or post-column amino acid derivatization for fluorescence detection and quantification
•Reacts with all primary amine-containing analytes, Generates fluorescent isoindole derivatives
{11 provides accurate measurement of components and absolute protein-peptide content
• Ideal for recombinant proteins and synthetic peptides
• Can be used for fluorescent protein or peptide detection
•Pre-column derivatization mixture can be injected into LC without any treatment

Fluorinated aldehyde reagent solution contains OPA (o-phthalaldehyde), which can react with primary amines of amino acids, peptides and proteins , thus enabling fluorescence detection and quantification. This reagent can be used as a protein or peptide detection reagent or as a pre- or post-column detection reagent for amino acid analysis (HPLC). Reactions of OPA with proteins and peptides provide linear results over a wide concentration range. Ready-to-use solutions of fluorinated aldehyde reagents are provided for rapid quantitation of proteins or peptides in solution.

Reagent characteristics:
•Formulation: 0.8 mg/mL o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) dissolved in patented buffer (pH 10)
•Storage form: colorless transparent to light yellow liquid
•Can react with the following groups: primary amine (—NH2)
•Detection: fluorescence (excitation/emission = 340 nm/455 nm)
•Application: Pre-column or post-column derivatization for HPLC detection
