Annexin V has a high affinity for phosphatidylserine (PS), which is exposed on the outer leaflet of apoptotic cells. Because of this affinity, fluorescently labeled Annexin V reagents are commonly used reagents in apoptosis studies.

Annexin V conjugates provide a rapid and reliable assay for studying the externalization of phosphatidylserine, a marker of metaphase apoptosis. After staining with our fluorescent Annexin V conjugates, apoptotic and non-apoptotic cells show different fluorescence intensities, which are typically approximately 100-fold different by flow cytometry analysis.

In partnership with Nexins Research BV, we offer the best and brighter Annexin V conjugates, including Alexa Fluor 350, 488, 555, 568, 594, 647 and 680 Annexin V conjugates conjugates as well as Annexin V APC, Biotin-X, FITC, Pacific Blue and PE conjugates. Highly fluorescent Annexin V conjugates provide a rapid and reliable detection method for studying the eversion of phosphatidylserine, which is one of the early indicators of apoptosis.

Annexin V Pacific Blue conjugates have violet excitability, making them ideal for use with violet laser instruments and multicolor experiments involving green or red fluorescent dyes.

Advantages of our Annexin V conjugates include:
• Conjugation with Invitrogen Alexa Fluor and eFluor dyes produces brighter signals
• Conjugates are compatible with all available lasers< br> • Available as a stand-alone reagent or an easy-to-use kit

Annexin V staining to detect apoptotic cells can only be performed on viable cells and tissues. If the sample is fixed after staining, specific conditions are required to preserve the signal. This includes using an alcohol-free acetaldehyde fixation method and using a buffer containing Ca2+ but no surfactant/detergent. For your convenience, we also provide a concentrated annexin binding buffer to promote the binding of annexin V to phosphatidylserine in apoptosis assays.
