Thermo Scientific RevertAid first-strand cDNA synthesis kit (containing DNase I) efficiently synthesizes first-strand cDNA based on RNA templates Complete system. This kit contains recombinant endonuclease (DNase I) to remove contaminating genomic DNA from RNA preparations.

For reverse transcription applications, this kit uses RevertAid reverse transcriptase (RT), which is an M-MuLV Rt that remains active at 42 50°C and is suitable for synthesis for up to 13 kb cDNA. The RiboLock RNase inhibitor provided with the kit effectively prevents RNA template degradation.

oligo(dT)18 and random hexamer primers are provided with the RevertAid First Strand cDNA Synthesis Kit. The oligo(dT)18 primer selectively anneals to the poly(A) tail of mRNA. Random hexamer primers do not require a poly(A) tail and can therefore be used to transcribe the 5' region of mRNA, or for cDNA synthesis of RNA species lacking a poly(A) tail (such as microRNA). Gene-specific primers are also available with the kit.
