Protein Transport Inhibitor Cocktail (500X) is a mixture of Brefeldin A and monensin. It is suitable for assays that require preventing protein transport into the extracellular space. It is specially formulated to serve as a negative control (500X) for cell stimulation mixtures (plus protein transport inhibitors) (Cat. No. 00-4975). Addition of this mixture to cell cultures inhibits intracellular protein secretion/transport pathways, resulting in accumulation of secreted proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. This accumulation can then be detected by intracellular staining and flow cytometry or Western blot detection.
