This flash detection kit contains reagents for the determination of Renilla fluorescence in mammalian cell lysates enzyme activity. When used with Thermo Scientific GreenRenilla Luc Plasmid, this kit provides a very sensitive bioluminescent reporter assay system for intracellular detection of promoter or pathway activity. GreenRenillaLuc produced a much higher signal than native firefly orRenillaluciferase assayed under similar conditions. The light output captured using a photometer can be correlated with the amount ofRenillaluciferase protein produced and used to determine the activity of the promoter driving Renilla expression.

Green Renillaluciferase is a derivative of the wild-type Renilla luciferase gene from Renilla A 36kDa protein. GreenRenillais more stable in serum than wild-type luciferase and has an emission spectrum shifted toward the green region. The protein provides an extremely bright flash signal that decays rapidly. The Pierce Renilla Flash Assay Kit reagents optimize this signal for use in flash luciferase reporter assays. The kit is also compatible with flash assays of otherRenillaluciferases and derivatives using coelenterazine as substrate.
