Thermo Scientific Pierce MPBH is a long maleimide and hydrazide cross-linker for sulfhydryl ( Cysteine) is coupled to a carbonyl group (aldehyde or ketone, a substance formed by the oxidation of carbohydrates such as glycoproteins).

Features of MPBH:

•Reactive groups:Maleimide andHydrazide
•Can react with the following groups:Sulfhydryl and carbonyl (aldehyde) groups
•Long (17.9A) is a thiol-aldehyde cross-linker with an aromatic ring in the spacer arm (non-cleavable)
•The maleimide group reacts with the thiol group to form a stable thioether bond
•The hydrazide group reacts with sugar Oxidative sugar coupling of proteins and carbohydrates
•Use sodium metaperiodate to oxidize sugar groups (such as sialic acid) to a reactive aldehyde group
•Use with EDC to combine hydrazide Coupling of primary amine groups with carboxyl groups
