Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) is a widely used basal medium used to support many types of mammalian cells grow. Cells that have been successfully cultured in DMEM include primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVECs, smooth muscle cells, and cell lines such as HeLa, 293, Cos-7, and PC-12. We offer a variety of Gibco™ DMEM modified media suitable for a wide range of cell culture applications. Use

RecipeSee here. DMEM differs from other media in that it contains 4 times the concentration of amino acids and vitamins as the original Eagle minimum essential media. DMEM is initially formulated with low concentrations of glucose (1 g/L) and sodium pyruvate, but is often used with high glucose levels with/without sodium pyruvate.
Use DMEM
DMEM does not contain proteins, lipids or growth factors. Therefore, DMEM needs to be supplemented with nutrients, usually 10%
Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). DMEM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (3.7 g/L) and therefore requires a 5-10% CO
2 environment to maintain physiological pH. Gibco™ cell culture media in powder form requires the addition of sodium bicarbonate, pH adjustment, and filtration (see
Protocol).
cGMP Manufacturing and Quality SystemsGibco™ DMEM is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard. To ensure supply chain continuity, we also offer an equivalent Gibco™ DMEM product (31600-083) manufactured in our factory in Scotland. The latter is also a medical device manufacturer registered with the FDA and complies with the ISO 13485 standard.
