Thermo Scientific 0.5 M EDTA (pH 8.0) is 0.22 μm membrane filtered sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) Aqueous solution of salt. It is ideal for biochemistry or molecular biology applications requiring divalent cation chelators. EDTA inhibits metal-dependent enzymatic reactions by forming complexes with metal ions. The molar ratio of metal ions in the EDTA complex is 1:1.

Nucleic acids are usually stored in TE buffer containing 1 mM EDTA (to prevent degradation by metal-dependent nucleases).
