SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain has been specifically developed to reduce mutagenicity – compared to Ethidium bromide is safer for staining DNA in agarose or acrylamide gels. Not only are SYBR Safe dyes less mutagenic than ethidium bromide, SYBR Safe dyes have a higher detection sensitivity than ethidium bromide. SYBR Safe dye can be used like an ethidium bromide solution as a premixed solution, either in the gel during electrophoresis or as a post-electrophoresis dye. When bound to nucleic acids, green fluorescent SYBR Safe dye has fluorescence maximum excitation wavelengths at ∼280 and ∼502 nm, and a fluorescence maximum emission wavelength at ∼530 nm. SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain is also available as a 1L (S-33100) ready-to-use solution. SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain Starter Kit (S-33110) includes 1 L of SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain and a photo filter (S-37100).
