Gibco™ Sf9 cells are commonly used to isolate and propagate recombinant baculovirus stocks and generate recombinant proteins. Gibco™ Sf9 cells are adapted for serum-free suspension culture in Gibco™ Sf-900™ II SFM, saving significant time and expense associated with culture adaptation. Gibco™ Sf9 cells (frozen in Gibco™ Sf-900™ II SFM) are characterized by:
• Recombinant protein expression in multiple expression systems
• Grow well in adherent or suspension culture
• Conventional Smaller format allows generation of uniform monolayers and plaques
• Documented lineage of low-passage master cell banks
• Quality and performance testing
Recombinant protein expression from multiple expression systems< /b>
UseBaculoDirect ™ Baculovirus Expression System, Bac -to-Bac ™ Baculovirus Expression System or InsectDirect™ Expression System can achieve Sf9 cell expression High level protein expression.
Regular sizes are smaller, producing uniform monolayers and plaques
Gibco™ Sf9 cells are small and round, producing a pure, uniform monolayer and plaques piece. Other cells often form more irregular monolayers and patches.
Documented Lineage of the Low Passage Master Cell Bank
Gibco™ Sf9 cells (in Sf-900™ II SFM) are prepared from Sf9 cells at the USDA Insect Pathology Laboratory serum-free suspension culture. The original Sf9 cells were cloned from the parental IPLBSF-21 (Sf21) cell line derived from the ovarian tissue of Spodoptera frugiperda pupae. Serum-free master cell banks were prepared at passage 34.
Quality and Performance Testing
Each batch of Gibco™ Sf9 cells is tested to determine cell growth and viability after cryopreservation and recovery. In addition, the master seed bank has been tested for bacterial, yeast, mycoplasma, and viral contamination and has been characterized by isozyme and ribotyping analyses.
