BODIPY™ 581/591 Undecanoic acid can be used to detect reactive oxygen species in cells and cell membranes (ROS). Oxidation of the polyunsaturated butadienyl moiety of the dye causes the fluorescence emission peak to shift from ∼590 nm to ∼510 nm. In the reduced state, the excitation and emission maxima of BODIPY™ 581/591 Undecanoic Acid are 581/591 nm; after oxidation, the excitation and emission maxima shift to 488/510 nm.

We recommend dissolving this product in high-quality anhydrous DMSO, with a mother solution concentration of 1 to 10 mM, and storing it in the dark at ≤-20°C.
