Sf-900™ III SFM is a low hydrolyzate, serum-free, protein-free, animal-free – insect cell based Medium optimized for the growth and maintenance of Spodoptera frugiperda (Sf9 and Sf21) cells and for recombinant gene expression using baculovirus and stable insect expression systems. The medium is suitable for suspension and monolayer culture methods and supports the growth of other lepidopteran cell lines. Gibco™ Sf-900™ III SFM Features:

Excellent long-term, high-density growth
Spodoptera Frugiperda ( Sf9) cells grown in Sf-900™ III to a maximum cell density of 10 to 14 × 10⁶ cells/mL compared to Sf-900™ II SFM and other commercially available serum-free media Significant improvement (see figure).

Optimized for recombinant protein production
Traditionally, Grace medium supplemented with 10% FBS has been used for recombinant protein expression. Sf-900™ III SFM is an improved serum-free, protein-free, animal-free medium designed for the culture of Sf9 and other lepidopteran cell lines and the production of insect viruses and recombinant proteins.

Serum-free, protein-free, non-animal derived –, ready-to-use formula
Gibco™ Sf-900™ III SFM is a serum-free, protein-free, non-animal-derived formula Animal-derived – media for easier purification of your protein of interest. Sf-900™ III SFM is ready-to-use; no added serum, glutamine or surfactants are required. Cells suitable for other commercially available serum-free media should be adapted sequentially to Sf-900™ II SFM (see product manual for details).

Improved batch-to-batch consistency
Gibco™ Sf-900™ III SFM contains reduced hydrolyzate concentration, providing improved batch-to-batch consistency compared to Sf-900™ III SFM consistency (see figure).

cGMP Manufacturing and Quality Systems
Gibco™ Sf-900 II SFM is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard.
