Phantom Pen Cyclotide is a bicyclic peptide that belongs to a class of toxins isolated from the deadly Amanita "death cap" mushroom and is often used to selectively label F-actin in imaging applications. Compared with antibodies, fluorescently labeled phalloidin has several advantages in labeling actin, including: its binding properties to animal and plant actin from different species are almost the same, and the non-specific binding ratio is low. Phalloidin binds F-actin with high selectivity, while Alexa Fluor Plus 750 provides ultra-bright and photostable purple fluorescence.
