Thermo Scientific Pierce Sulfo-SMCC No-Weigh specification is a water-soluble amine-to-sulfhydryl cross-linker containing NHS esters and Maleimide reactive groups located at opposite ends of a medium length cyclohexane spacer arm (8.3 Å).

Features of Sulfo-SMCC No-Weigh specifications:

• Cyclohexane bridges provide additional stability to the maleimide groups, making Sulfo-SMCC Ideal cross-linker for maleimide activated proteins. Maleimide groups are stable in 0.1 M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7) for 64 hours at 4°C.

Sulfosuccinimide-4-(N-maleimidomethyl)cyclohexane-1-carboxylate (Sulfo-SMCC) is a Non-cleavable and membrane-impermeable cross-linker. It contains an amine-reactiveN-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS ester) and thiol-reactive maleimide groups. NHS esters react with primary amines at pH 7-9 to form stable amide bonds. Maleimide reacts with sulfhydryl groups at pH 6.5-7.5 to form stable thioether bonds. Due to the presence of a cyclohexane bridge in the spacer arm, the maleimide group of Sulfo-SMCC and SMCC The pellet is stable at pH values up to 7.5. Because it contains hydrophilic sulfonyl groups, Sulfo-SMCC dissolves up to ∼10 mM in water and many common buffers, thus avoiding the use of organic solvents that may disrupt protein structure.
