BS(PEG)5 is a disuccinimidyl ester-activated PEG compound used in proteins and other molecules Cross-linking between primary amines (—NH2). The
N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (NHS) groups at both ends of the PEG5 spacer react specifically and efficiently with lysine and N-terminal amino groups at pH 7-9 to form a stable Amide bond.
Thermo Scientific No-Weigh products are professional reagents provided in pre-packed form. Pre-weighed packaging eliminates repeated opening and closing of vials, preventing loss of reagent reactivity and contamination over time. With this format, a fresh vial of reagent can be used at a time, eliminating the hassle of weighing small amounts of reagent and reducing concerns about reagent stability.
Features of BS(PEG)5:
•
Reactive groups:Sulfo-NHS ester (both ends)
•
Can react with the following groups: Amino group (primary amine)
• NHS ester reacts with —NH2 at pH 7-9 groups react to form stable amide bonds
• Water soluble; with non-PEGylated
BS3 (also soluble ) and
DSS (water-insoluble) are comparable
• Has membrane barrier Permeable for cell surface labeling
• Irreversibly cross-link proteins or peptides with flexible PEG spacers
• Polyethylene glycol spacers help maintain conjugate solubility
• Features Pure compounds with well-defined structure and molecular weight ensure reproducible protein modification effects
• PEG spacers offer unique advantages, including higher stability, lower tendency to accumulate, and lower immunogenicity
• Suitable for small molecule or peptide coupling
