Invitrogen Power Blotter 1-Step Transfer Buffer is designed for use with the Power Blotter System to transfer proteins from polyacrylamide gels ( SDS-PAGE) for rapid semi-dry transfer to nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes. This transfer buffer is compatible with commonly used detection methods such as staining, chemiluminescence or fluorescence detection.

Power Blotter SystemWhen used with the Power Blotter System, this buffer can be clotted in 5 to 12 minutes. High-efficiency protein transfer from gel to membrane, with efficiency comparable to traditional Western blotting technology. Fast blotting methods require the use of a high-current power supply (such as the Power Blotter System) and an optimized high-ionic strength transfer buffer (such as the Power Blotter 1-Step Transfer Buffer).
Excellent transfer efficiency can be obtained in less time than traditional methods by increasing the current. The current is kept constant (∼22–23 mA/cm
2) according to the surface area of the transfer membrane group, and the voltage is no higher than 25 V.
Power Blotter 1-Step Transfer Buffer is compatible with other protein semi-dry transfer devices when paired with an appropriate high-current power supply. These devices provide a constant high current (1.3 to 5.0 A) to rapidly transfer proteins through the high ionic strength conditions provided by the transfer buffer.
