Thermo Scientific IPTG (isopropyl-beta-D-thiogalactopyranoside) is a highly stable synthetic lactose analog. It inactivates the lac repressor and induces the synthesis of β-galactosidase, an enzyme that promotes lactose utilization. IPTG is used to induce expression of cloned genes controlled by the lac operon (see Reference 1). • It is recommended to prepare a concentration of 100 mM in water ( 23.83 mg/mL) stock solution
•For blue-white colony screening, prepare IPTG in LB (Luria Broth) medium to a final concentration of 0.1 mM and use
